Welcome again to your weekly dose of nutrition!

In this article we will discuss good old fashion meat. Red meat, beef, steak, are essential diet components to a runner or any athlete. Red meat contains great amounts of iron and amounts of protein essential for recovery, performance and building of strength and muscle. As as alternative to these two red meats are fish, and chicken are great sources of protein to recover and build stronger muscles. Fish has an adage of high amounts of omega oils that benefit improving brain functions and bodily performance. All of these meats can be found in very local stores at affordable prices so that means no more fruit loops or twinkies, I know that not all of you do but it seems to be a common attendee of our teams nutrition.

 

Cross Country Hydration: Alkaline Water

We all know that water and hydration is important before and after a workout and race. But how well does a runner especially a distance runner need to hydrate to reach optimal performance?
